  DATA SHEET

Measuring the thickness of a simple glass (fig.1)

- Put the vitrometer against the glass with the side A upwards, the vitrometer will make an 45º angle with the glass.

- Observe along the surface of the vitrometer (side A). For readings of glass exposed at full sun, take the reading on a shaded area.

- The thickness of the glass in mm will coincide with the second line (linea de rappel), in this example 6mm.

-

Measuring the thickness of an chamber between a double-glass (fig. 2)

- Put the vitrometer against the glass with the side B upwards, the vitrometer will make an 45º angle with the glass.

- Observe along the surface of the vitrometer (side B). For readings of glass exposed at full sun, take the reading on a shaded area.

- The thickness e2 in mm of the distance between the 2 glasses will be the number that coincides with the intersection of the oblique line 2 and the line 3 (linea de rappel), it means the number of 12 mm, where both red lines in the second figure coindide.
